Anti-Environmental Winds Blowing Strong in Sauk County!
As expected the Sauk County Board of Supervisors approved the controversial tower on the Wisconsin River in Spring Green. The vote Tuesday night was 21-8. You can read the Baraboo News article for more information: http://baraboo.scwn.com/articles/2004/12/22/news/news1.txt
From the Baraboo News Article:"County Corporation Counsel Todd Liebman hinted at possible legal action against the county if the board approved the Thuli Road site." "La Valle Supervisor Virgil Hartje, a member of the County Communications Infrastructure Committee, said the county has to go on with the Thuli Road site, regardless of a possible lawsuit."
From what the Hartje and Liebman are saying it sounds like a lot of property owners in the Riverway are looking for attorneys and for good reason! The Lower Wisconsin State Riverway Act is under threat.
Left undecided by the board was the issue of requiring the CIC to comply with the Tower Siting Ordinance. Compliance implies obtaining a written report from a registered engineer and a permit hearing with the board of zoning. The CIC and their lawyer Todd Liebman claim that their activities are exempt from the ordinance and any external controls.

The story shows photos from the Koehnen Report recommending fixes to the Spring Green tower, yet the maintenance was never done. See the latest photos and compare the results for yourself.
There is a link to the Koehnen Report on the MoveTheTower home page. Every taxpayer in Sauk County should read these documents.
The Koehnen Report predicted that a vehicle would snap the unmarked guy wires on the Sauk City tower causing its collapse. This is exactly what happened! Find out why this warning and others are being ignored.
