This is a brown recluse found at the house. Not the one that bite me. We did find the one that bite me smashed in the bed covers. Apparently I smashed him between my thighs during the night. This is why I got bit on both left and right thighs at the same level.

Notice the small red spots. Questionable rash from Brown Recluse bite. The lighting seems to take away some of the redness. The 4th and 5th toe was red and swollen with a feeling of tightness just a couple days ago.

I was bitten while staying at my girlfriends house over the Thanksgiving holiday. She was bitten about 1 year ago and has recovered nicely. Last summer we were cleaning out a unused upstairs room and found several dried out corpses of brown recluse spiders. Her downstairs bed room that we stayed in is usually shut up and unused as it is a old farm house and they don't want to heat or cool the room. I slept through Wednesday night (11-23-05) without incident. I only realized something wierd when the inside of my left thigh began to itch Thursday night (11-24-05). Just 10 to 15 minutes later my right thigh started to itch also. I thought nothing of it a slept fine that night. The next day Friday (11-25-05) I got up to go to work and noticed a quarter size red area on the left thigh and dime size area on the right. I thought might be poison ivy as I just finished first weekend of deer season and went to work. When I got home later that day the areas had gotten larger. Left thigh red area about the size of my palm and the right about the size of a quarter. Still unconcerned I left for the weekend to my parent house in Kentucky. When I arrived Friday night I noticed my feet were itching severly. Saturday (11-26-05) right thigh was same but left thigh was getting tender to the touch. Saturday night had restless night with painful left thigh and itching feet. Sunday (11-27-05)we came home and the left tigh was very sensitive to the touch and red area had started to darked abit. Emergency Room visit Sunday night. Placed on Augmentin 500mg three times a day. I told the Dr. that I thought the rash on my feet and now my hands was related but he thought it was a fungal rash and unrelated. Monday (11-28-05) I worked and was on my feet for 9 1/2 hours. I don't suggest this as my left thigh was throbbing and the darkened area looked darker. Warm compresses all Monday evening. Tuesday morning (11-29-05) the area was still dark but not as red. Left thigh didn't hurt as much being on my feet for most of the day. Continuing warm compresses and Augmentin therapy.

Friday December 2nd. The warm compresses helped and both areas while spreading out in area has lightened in is redness. The bruise color has started to fade and turn a yellowy greenish color like a bruise about to heal.

Sunday December 4th. We visited my grilfriend mother's house and bombed the house for spiders. While checking the bed linen my girlfriend found the dried up remains of the offending Brown Recluse spider and he got the worst end of the deal. After the spider bombs finished and we aired out the rooms I found a small brown recluse spider dieing on a heater. He wasn't dead but close. I hope the spider bombs gets rid of them and no one else in the house gets bitten. We have several more bombs to set off over the next few months. I have been on the Augmentin therapy for 1 week and both thighs other than a little discoloration is pretty much back to normal. I am not sure if the ? timely medical attention, treatment, area bitten or what has contributed to what I would call a minor reaction to a brown recluse spider bite but I feel lucky and hope to never go through that again.

There were several more pictures that didn't get posted here. If you would like to view them then goto my blog.
