Brown Recluse Spider Bite

Brown Recluse Spider Bite

Hi Mark,
I am reading, with great interest, your information on the recluse spider. I have a pet greyhound who was recently bitten by?? She was bitten on March 25th and still today she is suffering from this huge bite. We are pretty certain it is a spider bite. The bite or lump is twice the size of a golf ball. Her neck and jaw began to swell on the second day but has cleared up since then. It was edema caused from the infection, says our Vet. She is on antibiotics (Baytril) and Benadryl, an over the counter antihistamine. The Benadryl is helping to keep her in a drowsy state so she will not dig at the bite.

I have attached two pictures, maybe you can tell me if this is a recluse spider bite or? She is absolutely in misery and so am I. These pictures do not show how swollen her neck and jaw became. I can't even begin to describe that. Her neck was hanging a good 6 inches from the gravity and water but that occurred on the second and third day. By the fourth day, most of the swelling from the edema had disappeared.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated.

Carol
