Bite picture 10 hours after contact. Decided to lance, clean and basically do nothing. No idea it was BR bite.

3 Days later first trip to the ER due to hand swelling and red lines running up my arm. They marked the arm gave me oral Bactroban prescription and said to call if it gets worse.

Beginging to notice the Volcano lesion build up but still confident I've seen the worst & it should recede from here <lol>!

The Real Fun begins!! Okay this isn't getting better but the antibiotic has eliminated the red lines running up my arm and my hand size is returning closer to normal. I begin my research and decide to start Essential Oil of Basil & Jasmine (topical) & 800mg. Basil daily (Oral). Along with 3 times daily soakings in the same.

Okay it's a run away freight train now, but appears to be localizing. I had to request a Dapsone prescription which I got in trade from the ER tech for submitting a culture of the infection. The doc is not familiar with BR bites.

Okay Bactroban appears to be doing nothing to stop the venom damage, but is helping with the infection. Since Dapson is used to treat some pretty obscure diseases (like leprosy - no joke) the Pharmacy had to order it in. We'll wait another 24 hours for things to really rage.

This thing just gets more unbelievable by the hour. I'm having trouble extracting the puss. So I'm contemplating a suction device like those used for nasal congestion on babies.

Something has caused the wound to begin bleeding. In retrospect, I think this is the apex of the bite.

Think we're about at our worst however below the pustules lies deep necrotized holes.

I Began to extract the puss from the center hole in my hand. A turkey baster works pretty well. (Best not to jam it in too deep! <lol>)

Finally looks like I'm on the mend but I guess this is just the third act. This wound begins to bleed profusely out of nowhere.

One wrong move and the wound just starts bleeding. It doesn't seem to want to stop, unless I hold my hand up. This continues like this periodically for a while. Bleeding then stopping.

Beginning to heal 14 days after the initial bite and I'm one of the lucky ones! The worst is over.

No more band aids. Just lotions & oils.

Almost full circle. Finally close to healed after 23 days.

SPECIAL NOTE: I'VE LEARNED MY LESSON. IF YOU EVEN THINK YOU'VE BEEN BITTEN BY A SPIDER SEE A DOCTOR! DON'T WAIT TILL IT TURNS INTO THIS TRAIN WRECK! I was lucky and attribute my quick healing to the Basil / Jasmine / Soaking treatments but who really knows? I've listed what I did and photographed my results. As they say your mileage may vary.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

06-08-07 I was bitten thought nothing of it and lanced the welt. Someone suggested I put a mix of oatmeal on it (which I did - probably stupid) and left things alone. I felt no pain really, did nothing for 3 days until the whole hand began to swell and redden. I also noticed red lines extending from the bite traveling up my arm to the elbow. I went to the ER the next day. They suggested an IV drip but I asked if we could try oral antibiotics instead. They marked the arm up to determine if the infection would be spreading and gave me Bactroban. Next day the redness traveling up my arm was subsiding but it seemed that the poison was concentrating into a volcano lesion. 6 days after the initial bite I've got the most painful welt you can imagine.

06-14-07 Back to the E.R. they did a culture and gave me a prescription for DAPSONE 100mg. Will also be taking Holistic Basil 800mg (oral) and a combination of essential oils Lavender & Basil as a topical ointment. Figured I'd cover the bases.

06-15-07 Things look like they are heading the right direction but considering the other photos on this site I know this will get worse before it gets better. I am soaking the hand 3 times a day in water infused with essential oils of Basil & Lavender (3:1). I express the wound with a Que-Tip and try to remove as much puss as possible. I treat it again with the oils in the process. Also continue with antibiotics and will be able to add the Dapsone to the mix once it arrives at the drugstore today.

The rest you've probably already read from the captions of the pictures above.
