Dear Editor,
We, the sixth generation of Jones’s/ Radel’s living on our family farmland, would like to express our concerns about the proposed sandpit site. We have lived on Jones Road our entire lives, and the fact that someone wants to ruin this beautiful area with such an eyesore is devastating to us. As children, we rode our bikes, rollerbladed, and walked up and down this road. Never once did we have to worry about it being too dangerous because of too much traffic or possible large sand-hauling trucks. If the sand pit were approved, many parents would not let their children go out on their bikes. Many families enjoy going for walks on Jones Road, because of the gorgeous scenery and peaceful atmosphere due to low traffic. We should not take this scenery away from the habitants of Jones Road and the many motorists on Hwy 60.
As 2002, 2005, and upcoming 2007 graduates of River Valley High School, we have always been encouraged to return to this area after college. Why would we want to return to the area we grew up in if it is being taken away from us? What incentive would we have to build homes here and raise a family when our backyards could be the next sand pit?
Sincerely,
Trigg, Amy, and Deidra Radel
